This tiny island is at the heart of Paris and home to both Palais de Justice and the brilliant Gothic masterpiece, Notre Dame (the spire seen on left). During my longest sojourn to study and work in Paris, I stayed at the tiny ‘Hotel Henri IV’, nestled securely in Place Dauphine. The statue of Henri IV welcomed me home from my studies every evening, as I trudged wearily but happily across Pont Neuf.
